Classic Cuban-Style Picadillo Recipe

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- ½ cup green olives, sliced
- ¼ cup raisins
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ cup water
1. In a large skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
2. Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are soft.
3. Stir in the tomato sauce, sliced olives, raisins, ground cumin, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
4. Add the water and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5. Serve hot with rice or warm tortillas.
