  • 12 large sea scallops patted dry
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper

Instructions 

  1. 1. Pat the scallops dry with paper towels.
  2. 2. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  3. 3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. 4. Add scallops to the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until a golden crust forms.
  5. 5. Add butter to the skillet and baste the scallops for an additional minute.
  6. 6. Remove scallops from the skillet and serve immediately.
