Ingredients

  • 2 large green plantains
  • 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
  • to taste salt

Instructions 

  1. Peel the plantains and cut them into 1-inch thick slices.
  2. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  3. Fry the plantain slices for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they are golden brown.
  4. Remove the plantains from the pan and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  5. Using the bottom of a glass or a flat utensil, press down on each plantain slice to flatten them.
  6. Return the flattened plantains to the pan and fry for another 1-2 minutes on each side until crispy.
  7. Remove from the pan, drain on paper towels again, and sprinkle with salt to taste. Serve hot.
